THE HOTHAM – EARLY FIELD AND WORLD’S TALLEST TROPHY

Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au today revealed the world’s tallest ever racing trophy for ‘The Hotham’.

The trophy stands at over three metres in height and was paraded through the streets of Melbourne this morning – Click here for vision.

Already over 30 horses have nominated for ‘The Richest Battlers Race in Australia’ which will feature 12 Aussie battlers racing for a purse of $50,000 – making it the richest maiden in Victoria.

One of the biggest battlers in the field, Amazing Miss Ruby, has been installed as the $15 favourite.

The Bendigo trained mare is yet to place in 18 starts and finished no closer than fifth.

Auspicious Lad and New Indian Rupee share the second line on $17 – they have a combined total of 35 starts for one placing each.

Several runners share the $21 line, but Sathern, still a Maiden after 37 starts, is the stand-out.

The Hotham will be run over 1200m and take place at Ballarat Racecourse on Thursday the 12th of October.

‘The Hotham’ final field will be selected via reverse ballot conditions – a maiden with most starts gets preference alongside the lowest prizemoney and age of the horse.

“We’ll probably need to airlift the trophy to Ballarat it’s that big! So far the response to ‘The Hotham’ has been overwhelming. It’s going to be an amazing spectacle to see a real Aussie battler chalk up a first win,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
